Ban ki-moon: UN and Montenegro cherish right and a genuine partnership

Prime Minister Igor Lukšić met with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, at the end of his participation at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

“The United Nations and Montenegro cherish right and a genuine partnership”, said the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during a conversation with Lukšić.

“We highly appreciate contribution of Montenegro to strengthen mutual relations and  implementation of the UN mission”, said Ban Ki-moon.

Lukšić congratulated Secretary-General on his re-election to the office and expressed his support for further activities of the UN. Lukšić presented to the Secretary General highlights of the political and economic situation in Montenegro as well as results achieved in regard to strategic foreign policy objectives.

“We believe that joining the EU and NATO is contributing to stability and prosperity of the region”, said Lukšić.

Montenegrin Prime Minister and the UN Secretary-General also discussed global issues that have dominated their 66th session of the UN General Assembly.
