Montenegrin President, Filip Vujanović, received from the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Montenegro, Rastislav Vrbensky, a letter of credentials from the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon on his appointment.
President Vujanović wished a successful mission to Vrbensky and expressed strong appreciation for the UN System’s wide range of support to Montenegrin reforms and development. The President emphasized the importance of reforms in the rule of law, economic development and protection of vulnerable groups, and praised the UN’s supporting role to Montenegro in addressing national key priorities.
“The support and the assistance of the UN Family to Montenegro are of particular value for us. Successful cooperation with different UN agencies which results in many positive outcomes clearly illustrates importance of the partnership between the UN System and Montenegro. I am absolutely convinced that Montenegro has a reliable partner in the UN System”, Vujanović stated.
Newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Montenegro and Montenegrin President acknowledged the success of the past cooperation between Montenegro and the UN System. Vrbensky highlighted his belief that it will be continued and further intensified in the future.
He particularly emphasized special importance of such cooperation in the context of accelerating European integrations of Montenegro, stressing out that all different kinds of UN’s support are within the framework of addressing national key priorities.
“I strongly believe that Montenegro would continue to be a good regional example, and the UN Family will fully contribute to it”, said Vrbensky.
