The project team of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) just completed its second five-day mission to Montenegro within the context of the inception phase of the project “Enhancing the competitiveness of local SMEs in Montenegro through cluster development” - an EU-funded initiative, co-funded and implemented by UNIDO in partnership with UNDP and the Ministry of Economy of Montenegro.

The mission aimed at engaging in preparatory discussions with key project stakeholders in order to identify synergies with other initiatives and collaboration possibilities. Furthermore, the team met small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the metal processing, honey production, wood processing and the dairy production sectors in order to obtain a better understanding of their needs and challenges. Earlier this month, visits to vine, mushroom, trout, meat and olive oil producers were organized with the same objective.  Ultimately a minimum of 5 clusters will be selected for direct technical assistance through this project.
